Stapleton, used to be Stapleton International Airport. When Denver International Airport opened, Stapleton became a 4,700 ac redevelopment. The community is expected to reach 30,000 residents, 12,000 homes, 10-plus schools and an 80 acres Central Park, a commuter-rail train station, 10,000,000 SF planned office space, 1,500,000 SF retail space and 1,100 ac of parks and open space. It borders the restored Sand Creek Greenway & Buff Lake Nature Center, one of the largest urban wildlife refuges.
